Did you hear all the buzz in town?

Shopify, the e-commerce platform known for empowering entrepreneurs, is teaming up with its most significant e-commerce rival, Amazon.

Yes, you heard it right. Shopify has finally patched up with Amazon. That’s right, these two e-commerce giants are teaming up.

Suppose you’re into the latest Shopify and e-commerce updates. In that case, you might recall the previous year’s headline-grabbing news — Amazon’s Buy With Prime.

Amazon’s approach was clever—instead of a traditional plugin or app, they introduced Buy With Prime as an HTML script in April 2022.

This savvy move allowed the incorporation into nearly every website.

Sellers could now provide customers with a swift checkout experience while tapping into Amazon’s Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) inventory for order fulfillment.

This innovation made shopping more convenient for customers and selling more efficient for merchants.

So, with these developments in mind, many merchants began to explore this option to streamline their customer checkout process.

However, on a somewhat disappointing note, Shopify didn’t endorse merchants using Amazon’s Buy with Prime feature. It warned them that incorporating Buy with Prime could strip Shopify of its ability to safeguard against fraudulent orders and potentially result in compromised customer data.

Since June, Buy with Prime has been an experiment for Shopify merchants. After registration, Amazon provided them with an HTML button code, which they had to incorporate into their product templates.

When merchants attempted to save the updated template, Shopify immediately notified them that the code contained an Unsupported External Checkout Script.

But merchants had the choice of proceeding forward if they decided so; they had to acknowledge that Shopify would not be held liable for any possible consequences.

As Shopify already had Shop Pay and Shop Promise, there were many legitimate reasons for it to prefer merchants to use them, but was this the primary reason?

So, now the big news is that the President of Shopify, Harley Finkelstein, announced a new and exciting advancement.

Amazon will shortly release an app in Shopify’s ecosystem that will give merchants who use Amazon’s fulfillment network a new option: Buy with Prime on Shopify’s Checkout.

The best part? Shopify Payments will take care of every transaction in a seamless manner.

Buy with Prime will now be incorporated exclusively within the Shopify checkout process, specifically through Shopify Payments. Previously, it was displayed on the storefront, similar to product pages, allowing customers to finish their transactions outside the Shopify platform.

The buzz concerning this partnership comes from the fundamental concept of choice. Shopify has consistently made it easy for business owners to reach their customers wherever they are on the internet.

This new partnership with Amazon opens up a whole new world of opportunities.

To make Buy with Prime available on your Shopify store, you’ll need to follow these steps;

  1. Download and install Buy with Prime via an official Amazon app in the Shopify App Store, which will likely be accessible.
  2. After installing the app, you must add the payment button to your store’s checkout process. Navigate to the Admin section of your Shopify store.
  3. Go to Settings > Payments > Shopify Payments to get started.
  4. Click Manage and then select Amazon Pay from the Wallets section.
  5. You must connect your Amazon Seller Central or Multi-Channel Fulfillment account for BwP to work smoothly. This link guarantees that payments are processed quickly.
  6. Add the Amazon Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) to your Shopify product catalog for the products you want to sell with Buy With Prime.
  7. Finally, you’ll choose which products in your catalog can be purchased using the Buy with Prime payment option.
Note – It’s important to note that this service will be available only to merchants in the United States who use both Amazon’s fulfillment services and Shopify Payments.
